My culinary skills have definitely advanced over the past five months as a result of this class, from my safety in the kitchen to how I chop my veggies to discovering new recipes. I had no clue how to accomplish things that now seem simple, like how to cut an onion or a potato correctly at the beginning of the class. The improvement in my knife skills is most noticeable when I chop vegetables at home, subconsciously using the claw position. I have greatly improved in both speed and safety. I found that overall, I really enjoyed the wider variety of items we cooked and baked compared to the previous year. I truly detested all sorts of soups at the beginning of the year, but after cooking and eating a wide variety of soups, I learned how much I actually do love soup. For this reason, the soup unit was my favorite. Overall, this course has shown me how simple it is to make things from scratch. I would never have thought to bake bread or make pasta from scratch, but after completing this course, I feel more inspired to do so. You are the best teacher in the school! I will miss this class.
